Job description

Reporting to the General Manager and working in close collaboration with all members of the health and safety team as well as with the superintendents and foremen of various construction sites. The prevention advisor is a resource person in matters of prevention on construction sites in the Eastern Quebec region, including the Eastern Townships, Centre-du-Quebec, Mauricie, Chaudière-Appalaches and mainly in the Capitale Nationale Region. The person's main mandate is to promote the company's prevention culture and to develop relevant procedures and analyses related to health and safety prevention.


More precisely, the Prevention Advisor will:

  • Ensure the application of the safety standards required by laws and regulations applied by the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du Québec et de l'Ontario, the owner, the prime contractor or the health and safety committee on the construction sites where we carry out rebar installation activities.
  • Advise our managers on the direction to take to meet health and safety requirements.
  • Develop and recommend the appropriate preventive measures, methods and specific health and safety procedures according to the work to be performed on our construction sites.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with clients and various health and safety stakeholders in order to remain proactive in accident prevention.
  • Organize, lead or participate in training our managers and workers on various health and safety aspects related to the specific risks associated with the installation of reinforcing steel on our construction sites. Ensure that our foremen in charge of a construction site have a safety break once a week, or as often as needed. In addition, various health and safety professionals, such as the ASP, may be called upon to provide training.
  • Conduct weekly preventive inspections on our construction sites and intervene when there is an accident risk. Investigate near misses, accidents or incidents as required. Recommend to our Superintendents, Foremen and workers the appropriate health and safety corrective measures.
  • Ensure that our foremen, when an accident occurs, report the information the same day in order to manage the file and coordinate the investigation, to make sure the injured worker is taken care of, to request authorization from the attending physician for a temporary assignment and to record all information concerning accidents or incidents and occupational diseases in an accident register.

  •  Preventive and corrective actions


Desired competencies

Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry

Occupational health and safety certification

Knowledge of the Quebec OHS legislation

Mastery of the construction safety code

Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook, Team)

Valid driver's license


Required abilities
