Job description

Under the authority of the Chief Estimator, the Estimator is responsible of doing the quantity takeoff for bids.

Specific duties

  • Coordinate paper and electronic documents (plans, specifications, addenda, bid documents) that they have received and that are also on the server
  • Inform the Chief Estimator of bid bonds when required
  • Follow the instructions given by the client (type of price, scope of work, bid form)
  • Study the plans and specifications
  • Survey the quantities of reinforcing steel, wire mesh and any other products related to the feasibility of the project.
  • Survey the quantities of special products at the beginning of the project (Stud rails, V-Rods, Post-Tension, stainless steel and others) and give them to the chief estimator so that he can make the price requests in advance.
  • Ask questions and follow-up with the contractors (email and/or phone)
  • Validate all submitted documents
  • Attach a copy of the bid form, scope of work, breakdown when required
  • Make comparisons between tender and construction plans

Training requirements

Residential and Commercial Drafting DVS, BASc in Civil Engineering or any other relevant experience

Qualification

  • With or whitout experience
  • Good at reading plans
  • Good communication in English
